Welcome to Raising Precious Seeds,
Hi, my name is Kathy. I live in the North East in the good old USA.
I am married to my better half, Douglas, and we have been together since we met in 1982. We married in 1986 with a dream of a good life and growing old together.
In 1996 two kids in we discovered homeschooling. After much prayer, we decided to give it a try.
Fast forward to 2020 and eight children later our journey has evolved and taken us through many ups and downs and even around some sharp bends, but through it all God has been faithful and continues to lead us.
My desire for this blog is to encourage and equip the precious young moms out there that have decided to jump into the boat with both oars and take up the challenge.
Not only to home school but to Enjoy the Journey.
Can I say the journey has always been perfect, full of joy with no hiccups along the way?
No, but I can say I am still here! Plugging along I can honestly say I am so thankful I have not jumped out of the boat and abandoned the course.
I also believe that you have what it takes too with God’s help.
I am in my 24th year of homeschooling and I am always learning, trying new things, and never thinking I have arrived.
Since I began back in 1996 so much has changed. Today I can proudly state that we are a homeschooling family.
Back in 1996, I felt like it was a taboo, a word you were afraid to mention in public.
We would hide in our home until other schools were out for the day; we feared questions or prying eyes.
People did not understand homeschooling then; today those fears have subsided.
People often share with me that they also wish they could home school their children.
Homeschooling is now looked upon as a wonderful option for educating our children.
Since I am in my 24th year you would be right to assume that some of my children have graduated, gone to college, even married!
Yes, and I can even( happily) say I am a proud grandmother!
We have five still at home with us and out of them, two are in college, and our last three are still being homeschooled.
One is in 12th, one in 11th, and our youngest daughter is in 9th grade.
Funny I never thought I would see the end of the road, but now it is actually in sight.
Am I looking forward to the end of this journey? I don’t know, it has been part of my life for so long.
I can tell you I have learned Phonic : ) and my basic math skills.
I have learned more through homeschooling than I ever did in my years at school : ) Funny how that happens.
My hope is that Raising Precious Seeds will be a place where you can receive words of encouragement.
Can I proclaim that I have done everything right? No!
Ok, I have felt like this at times : ) and there are probably days you have felt like this too!
There are many blogs that share the newest and latest curriculum for homeschooling. I too hope to share my experiences with the different curriculum I have tried but to be honest my greatest desire is to share my heart with you to encourage you and to just plain cheer you on!
One Mother to Another.
To be your cheerleader, cheering you on to the finish line! Not only in your homeschooling journey, but in our most important job Raising our Precious Seeds.
So I would like to invite you to come along, join me as we share in the journey of
“Raising Precious Seeds!”
